Happy Cinco De Mayo! Its TEE-quila Time May 5, 2019 18:34
The office was super excited this week when we flipped the page on our calendar and realized that is was finally May! The reason for all the excited is because May is home to a holiday we have trained all year for – by consuming tequila && tacos! I'm sure you figured it out by now but the holiday we are talking about is CINCO DE MAYO or as we like to call it DRINKO DE MAYO!
Personally I feel like a dingdong because I always assumed that Cinco De Mayo was the Mexican equivalent of the Fourth of July – but not so much. For example, Cinco de Mayo is not even a legal holiday in Mexico. As in: workers have to work! Was anyone else as confused as me? Oh, Just me. Cool Cool Cool.
In true American style, we have commandeered a Mexican historical event and celebrate it even louder and more patriotically than our southern amigos! You can join in on all the celebrations by rocking one of our hilarious Cinco De Mayo T-Shirts. Check them out at the link below:
In a taco shell, Mexico owed a bunch of countries mucho dinero. France got fed up and in 1862 their forces sailed the ocean blue….
Well, on May 5, 1862, a scrappy band of 2,000 Mexican fighters stood up to a force of 6,000 French troops and sent them packing (Mexico: 1 France: 0). Adios Bitchatchos!
This battle was only fifty years after Mexico’s Independence in 1810…but I was close?
Mexico, ‘Merica & Margaritas!
Cinco de Mayo is one of the most popular holidays in the USA… so much so that Cinco de Mayo generates beer sales comparable to Super Bowl Sunday!!! Ay caramba!!
Be sure to meet up with your best amigos to devour a taco or two.
Whoo! That exciting synopsis sure got me Down To Fiesta!
